Hey guys, another question.... I did some searching around and I can't seem to find a good Air Intake, all the ones I saw were for the DI models and Turbo'd IDI models, I don't get it! I would love to have a more open air system, the stock one is alright it just seems like a nice open filter would do better. Any clues or suggestion fellas?

Open air cleaners aren't a good idea, you want cool air, not hot engine bay air in your intake.

Not too much to do to an N/A, you can remove the soup bowl or restrictor, whichever you have, add a ram air or cowl induction intake.

Ha! Yeah that never crossed my mind.... I feel dumb now.... Hm..... I know what you mean by not a whole lot can be done.... I am not sure what you mean by soup bowl or restrictor. I just have the round air filter which then goes right into the intake.

You could do a setup that moves the filter, diy cold air cowl intake.

IMO, more hot air is better than factory, but of course more cold air is best.
Once you're driving, under hood temps aren't quite as hot as you'd think.

I believe that the intake hole is the same size as most 4bbl carbs and tbi's so theres lots to choose from if you want to go that route. I choose to stay stock.

Well, there's not only the hot air to consider, but the noise. Ever run your IDI without the air cleaner? Open air would be similar.

Hypermax makes a cowl induction that fits in with the stock equipment if you want to go that route.

Noise?

Maybe with the cowl induction.
Usually won't be loud enough to notice.

But will say I have a drone from a 6637 on my psd. Radio overpowers it though.

But personally, I think the air sucking on a n/a engine sounds sweet.

You're correct on 4bbl gasser stuff.
