I see a lot of DT swaps in here so i figure this will get the most views here. I got a '71 IH 1210 step side pickup with 36,000 miles on it. it has a 304, 3-on-da-tree and 4x4. someone molested it and put a 14B rear and 10B front axles in it, with ratchet straps and 1 u bolt... cookoo well i already have the IH SV powered travelette i will be building as a tow rig/truck puller/DD. So seeing as the T-ette is soo clean it would be a sin punishable by death to cut out a PERFECT firewall to fit the DT... :backoff i figure since the step side needs floor pans what's the big deal if the sawzall went north on a trip up the firewall?? :sly i'm using the inner fenders and dash from it in the travelette anyway so i will have it stripped down pretty bare. I put some money down on the DT466 cab and chassis today, so stay tuned! ;Sweet

With DDT banned in '72 and 40 yrs (redid the math) since then, hopefully not too much residue in the bed, but I'm no expert; just sayin'.

Around here, the mosquito control authorities used 1st gen Scouts as spray vehicles, come to think of it.

Sweet Jon!

My project is in enternal limbo it seems. So much going on with work, moving, managing a new practice, a new property to look after....... and being an hour and a half from all the parts for the project is really hampering things here. Once I can get a shop built on my land here, I will hopfully get going again on this project.

This thing follows along with the usual IH territory marking like most I've owned. About an inch of grease packed on it. And Heath, if you come across any p pump deals let me know I've been looking around....about $2200 is a little hard to put down on a pump that has unknown condition!

We had to build a gantry crane just to move this sucker. i wasn't going to pay $650 at HF, so some scrap, a chain hoist, and some wheels and VIOLA! perfect crane!

That i-beam on your crane looks like a piece of mobile home frame lol. But nice ingenuity. And nice sticker on your garage door window. Haha

Yeah, the ratios are:

1st - 7.28
2nd - 4.09
3rd - 2.28
4th - 1.28
5th -1.00

HERE is the parts catalog for that trans.

If you could find a CM-6253-A (0.85 OD) or CM-6253-B (0.69 OD), you have some OD for that big DT466 on the highway.

I wouldn't want to be under that I beam sitting on those tiny uprights, but I tend to over build things. I'll be watching this build.

THANKS HEATH! hmmm that'll bolt up the same right? i WANT to find an OD transmission. which one is the deeper od? i have to call the heavy truck place and see what i can find.... there any way to interchange OD parts in this one? i want the trans gone through anyhow before i put it in. and swervyjoe i figure they're rated for 9,000 lbs, as long as i don't start swinging the 466 i think i'll be fine.
