One of the advantages of living in Phx is that the city is huge and our CL is loaded with deals. I am wanting to upgrade my rim and tire package however I don’t want to invest a lot of cash. With that being said 20’s are out of the picture I do see a lot of Takeoffs that would look good on my rig, what will fit? I’ve got a line on a set of factory steel 06 Dodge wheels, they are supposed to fit. The newer ford truck rims are very cool at the same time, will they fit my 87???

im pretty sure 94-04 dodges Are 8-6.5 lug pattern. Fords vary through the years. But i think all ford superduty/ excursions from 1999-2004 used a 8X170 mm bolt pattern.

Are you sure about this? There are some 20's off a 09 king ranch I would love to have but I thought everything newer than 99 was metric.

The 99 and up super duty wheels will not fit any way you cut it without adapters to go from your 8x6.5" pattern to the newer ford metric 8x170mm pattern. Plus super duty wheels are HUB CENTRIC and your wheels are LUG CENTRIC which means that the super duty center hub hole is machined to a fine tolerance to fit around the hub body tightly to "center" the wheel. The actual lug nuts just hold the wheel to the hub assy. Lug centric wheels are centered on the hub by the lugnuts themselves "Notice how those lugnuts are rounded on the edge that gets tightened to the wheel." The adapters would need to have some sort of machined edge on the 8x170mm side for the wheel center to ride on if my thinking is correct.

As far as the dodge wheels go, My thoughts are that the bolt pattern is correct, but I would want to test fit one front and rear to make sure that the center hub hole is big enough and also that the backspacing is correct.
I know I ran a set of 17" stamped steel dodge dually wheels off of an '03 on a 97 f-350 I had once but they were on the truck when I bought it and I sold it quickly so I don't know if the previous owner had done anything special to make them fit or not. The owner was a cheap skate and the truck was a total POS so i'm assuming he didn't "spend" anything to make the wheels fit...............but those were duals, I couldn't tell you about singles.

I think the 98 model was when they started using metric on fords. The factory Alcoa's most people use are from the 94-97 fords and they look great. I have the alcoa caps on my 19.5s.

As far as I know they never made a "98"... Went from 97 to 99

The newer Dodge wheels have a metric butt-load of backspacing, they look silly on older trucks if you can even get them to fit without hitting the tie rod ends. If you want them to look right, you have to use spacers which I think isn't a good idea. Stick to the factory alcoas from the mid 90s for a guaranteed fit and serious load rating.

Alcoa only lists 87 and up. I called to see if they would fit my 86 4x4 dually and they didn't have a clue.
Is there any difference between an 86 and a 87 as far as wheel fitment?

I believe 8x6.5 is 8x165.2 or 162.5, i cant remember which.

Yes, superduties 99 and up are 8x170 but i believe the vans didnt switch until a few years later.
