Speedometer flickering

I drove my moms CC yesterday and noticed the Speedometer needle flicker once.

The last time this happened the rear diff had gone to hell and we replaced the whole axle. What other possibilities are there that could cause this?

Loose wire connector.

'Nuther axle wanting to be replaced. :dunno

If it is a cable driven speedo, it is either a loose connector or the cable needs to be lubed. When they get dry the rub on the casing and being square in shape, this can look like the speedo is jumping or flickering a little.

Sort of hard to tell as you did not tell what it was other than a CC.
If it is a F250 IDI 4x4 with a large rear diff then maybe the pickup is
fouled with shavings or general crud. Removal and reinstallation or
replacement is fairly easy.
