Dumb things you have done truck wise!

I have also done that. Like its easy to do OE something.. ;burnout

    Cold timing advance problem

@Lumberjackchuck when you swapped out your R&D injectors to the Russ built ones, was it an immediate difference with the cold start smoke? Did you make any IP timing adjustments? I drove my truck into work today, so it had been sitting since last week. Firing her up it smoked out my whole...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Any idea what caused your injector to fail? And what was failed about it?

    THSIM9’s 1991 F250 Project

I did that with my samurai when I converted it from carburated to obd2 efi, having neat wiring is just the best, plus easier to diag if something messes up Looking good!

    Cold timing advance problem

Rubber ones. I used rubber on both of my old mans trucks, plus on mine before redoing the heads. I think because I over torqued them I may have warped them a little. Its just low priority for me at the moment. Right now its make sure she's ready for going long distance with a load. I think...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Ive ordered a few things from them before. Odd name for a store front.

    Cold timing advance problem

No not yet. I'm going to park it for a few days, I feel its good enough to haul my camper round trip 300 miles now, so I'm probably not going to take the injectors back out or anything until after that trip, which is in a few weeks. On another note, on my way home ambient temps were about 86F...

    Cold timing advance problem

First day doing a true overnight cold start since disconnecting the timing advance. Definitely a significant more amount of smoke. Didnt clear up until about 130f coolant temp. It wasn't consistent smoke either, it would be smoke for a bit, clear up, fart a few puffs, clear, then smoke some...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Slip rings look pretty good. I can tell you there's no new onan parts being made for that, but tons of aftermarket options exist

    Cold timing advance problem

Having it plugged in this morning on my way to work, it definitely drove like the symptoms I had. On my way home I finally disconnected it, and it was smooth sailing the whole yime. Mind you it was 77F out so it warmed up fast. I did finally start sucking air on my front tank after about 202...

So what did you do with your truck today?

4psi 36" of fuel lift is the spec, anything over 6psi will overflow the carb. So if your fuel pump meets those, send it

So what did you do with your truck today?

@1mouse3 I asked my buddy at work he said you can swap the whole carburetor over. He also said if you have the serial number he could get your the part # of the elevation carb if you need it. Gen is either a BGE or an NHM. They stopped production of them about 2003

So what did you do with your truck today?

They don't make parts for that generator anymore. We have like 4 of them on a shelf that customers abandoned

    Cold timing advance problem

This issue has resurfaced for me. Got a better idea for symptoms. Its not as bad as day 1 though. So when cold advance is ON, throttle response is normal, up until you hit 2k rpm, then its suuuuuper touchy and just wants to take off and keep going. When its cold I try to keep the rpms low...

    Leaking valve covers

Annoyingly this is still an issue. Its less, but still weeping down my heads and all over my front diff. Guess I need to get replacement gaskets again.

    Expected boost

New boost gauge was installed over the weekend. Drove er into work today. On the freeways doing about 40 in 4th, if I lay into it, boost builds up to 18psi if I keep at it, but usually settles around 16psi. Egts never got over 1000f so thats amazing.

    Class I hitch install + mk4

As long as you follow the install directions and don't overload the max tongue weight you should be fine. The unibody twists because people think they can tow with a unibody sedan or hatch like its a truck.

    Class I hitch install + mk4

Ive seen many hitches on mkiv's at the wrecking yard, not a single one had insulation on the muffler tip. Unless its rubbing, I wouldn't bother.

I don't think its restrictive, but I think you'll get better intake cooling with a charge air cooler.

    Project Stress Test

I'm gonna lean on something unstuck, he explained verbatim the same thing to me. Even mentioned on his big big pumps that he deletes the return check valve on the pumps.

    Expected boost

I know the pump and injectors have a short 'wear in' period. Wonder how long that actually is

    Expected boost

I imagine the digital ones are more accurate/reliable. My boost gauge was a mechanical gauge, and prone to messing up if you tightened the air line down too tight. Which is exactly what I did when I initially set it up.
