    I bought a 3G alternator when someone here posted a deal on them a while ago. I figured that I'll install it when my current one fails. Is there any reason that I should switch it sooner? What is the advantage to 3G? And is there a wiring conversion kit available or do I need to make one?

    That's what my button does. It just jumps the solenoid. If the screwdriver trick doesn't work then I don't think a button will.

    I managed to get it open from the outside. Looks like an easy fix and replacements are cheap. If yours is feeling stiff give it some lube. ;-)

    I finally found a visual on what goes on in there. FFWD to 2:00 in the video. I may still have to trash my new tonneau cover to get in there but at least now I know what to try doing from the outside as a last-ditch effort.
