I like the idea of upgrading the parts to steel or heavier duty parts than what might be in my transmission now. I suppose I get a bit confused looking at all of those parts and I like the idea of following the step by step
Video. I’m going to be rebuilding my own transmission sooner than later...
Just go with the transmission bench guy then.
I tow if I’m using the truck. Once in awhile I’ll just joy ride it. But you even said you’ll tow a 5th wheel horse trailer.
You can’t have it both ways..but the tranny bench guy sells oem tq converters for about $650
Also transmission bench doesn’t offer triple disk converters.
I called and spoke to the guy who made the videos.
He was sort of against the idea of upgrading the internals except the tugger kit. Which I differ on that opinion..why not get a billet converter and upgrade the internals.
Yeah I just made a post on this asking pretty much the same thing.
The only thing I’m thinking is I’d like to upgrade my parts while I’m in there. Sort of a diy stage 2 rebuild.
This is the response I got from the seller after asking to pull some fluid.
“sorry man the fluid was already pulled i don’t have any pictures of it. I can try and get a little for you. I totally get it. i TOTALLY understand as it’s a long drive so i will do everything i can for you and get you...
That’s a good idea I’ll ask. The $2500 guy is firm on 2500
Trying to save cash this year..not let it all go
-one thing I noticed in the photos is what looks like an open inspection plate or something but the slave cylinder? Is that right?
Does anyone have a lead on the short wiring harness...
I found yet another swap kit. He doesn’t have the correct drive shafts for a cclb but he has everything else. 97 Zf5 and it’s been rebuilt at some point based on the tags (seller says) 150k miles and he’s asking $2500 compared to $1500 with driveshafts
But the other seller doesn’t know about...
I’ll tell ya this then..when I do use my truck I usually am towing with it. My enclosed tool trailer weighs about 7,800 lbs, I have plans to tow my tiny house this year..but yeah it’s not driven unless hauling usually.
So maybe a manual swap would be more beneficial in the long run
I was thinking the same thing about the wrecking yard.
Thing is he has the whole set up and my tranny is acting up.
Rebuild or manual swap! Still debating
Is the triple disk really necessary? A nice oem quality single disk is $650 triple disk is $1400
