    12V power for accessories

Okay so i got everything wired in, looks great. The fuze box will also lead power to my Walbro FRB13 pump (got that for 120$ brand new on a fleabay bid, really happy with that) When I pulled my old motor out, I yanked the AC/Heater box for more under hood space, eventually it’ll get a side...

    12V power for accessories

Okay so just to clarify from everyone’s ideas and info, I run a fuze box from my battery, to the accessories with the continuous relay inline between the battery and fuze box; that relay will be powered from the radio wire.

    12V power for accessories

Yeah I knew that, but I didn’t know about overloading the FSS wire with multiple extra circuits attached to it. If I remember correctly, that wire isn’t very large. Thinking maybe tapping into the radio will be the better route

    12V power for accessories

You power this solenoid from turn key power and then can use it for multiple circuits? Correct?

    12V power for accessories

Now what about multiple relays? Could I use one relay for multiple circuits? Or would each circuit need it’s own relay so I’d need to branch off the FSS wire as many circuits I need

    12V power for accessories

I’m looking to put in an under hood bus bar for pulling 12V power to my aftermarket gauges, probably some extra lights, usb power sources as well as fixing my no power situation on the factory “power source.” I want a clean organized source of power for more possible accessories in the future...

Oil Pressure Gauge reading way low

I’ve had this problem for awhile now, even on the previous motor that was in the truck. truck runs fine, I know it’s got oil pressure, but man this gauge bothers the hell out of me. It reads low, like just over the left white line low. It never goes below that, sometimes it’ll go above that, but...

    Oil and coolant mixing

Classic Diesel Designs sells an oil cooler reseal kit. If it ends up being the cooler, I’d recommend resealing before buying a new one. Probably less expensive and the modern quality is no match for back in the day.

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

Tons of SoCal and Vegas people moving to Utah. My in-laws moved out there about 8 years ago and it’s being slowly overran just like every state in this country. The Morman thing is definitely prevalent but overblown in my opinion. Lots of great people living there.

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I live in the Northern California foothills, gold country. It’s a totally different world here than what you see in Sacramento/Bay Area/SoCal. The demographics of the area are consistent, the crime is lower, the people are friendlier and more neighborly, the...

    7.3 Powerstroke/6.0 Powerstroke Vaccuum Pump

I dealt with this issue just recently. I swapped over a drive from a 87 6.9 to my motor but put a 93 serpentine pulley on it. I beefed with that pulley and drive for hours until I realized, that sucker ain’t going on and the shafts were different sizes, literally a 16th, probably a 32nd of an...

    7.3 Powerstroke/6.0 Powerstroke Vaccuum Pump

For the 6.0 pumps I’ve found, it was for the 04-10 years, and I’ll be damned if it doesn’t Look identical to our pump aside from the pulley and the line coming off of the pod.

    7.3 Powerstroke/6.0 Powerstroke Vaccuum Pump

Anybody used one on one of our IDIs? The mounts look identical, and the pod/pump mechanism looks hardly any different. I read the later pumps put out more vacuum which I can’t imagine is a bad thing, and a 6.0 vacuum pump is cheaper than a junky dorman pos that I’d rather not waste my money on...

Looking to build a custom turbo set up

I know my IP is on its way out, it’s blowing white smoke that gets lesser or greater with timing, so I was already planning on picking up a CDD soon. Thanks for sharing your setup. That 300 is awesome.

Looking to build a custom turbo set up

Summit Racing has aftermarket heaters that have pretty solid ratings. I like my under the hood roomy, so having a reasonably sized heater system I can put in the cab is more attractive to me than the giant AC/heater box they put in these trucks.

Looking to build a custom turbo set up

I’m looking to build my own turbo set up and I’m looking to use a common, easy to maintain and find parts for turbo that won’t blow the heads off my 6.9. It’s got studs but I’m not looking for crazy power, just something to give it the extra mustard. I love these motors, but I can’t risk causing...

Installed Dreg's Garage's brass return caps

Wouldn’t recommend grabbing a set of the rails for the exact same reason stated above. Seriously, they’re a nightmare to install/reinstall, but if you’re stubborn and end up wanting a pair of them, I’ll give you mine for 100$. Reach out if interested.

I’d agree softer might be better but you probably couldn’t go wrong with either.

Our beloved FL1995 oil filter is no longer cheap at Walmart

In case anyone didn’t know, you can get the older FL174s for pretty cheap on rock auto. Gonna pay for shipping but if you buy in bulk, you’d still probably save over buying the same amount of the 1995s.

Update on my good 6.9, pictures and plans for the bad 6.9

Yes it sure was. You all saved me a ton of time by telling me just pull the damn head to see what’s up. And the new motor runs like a healthy locomotive, I’m a happy camper, and I learned a ton. Best case scenario for a blown engine lol.

Update on my good 6.9, pictures and plans for the bad 6.9

For me, it just got to the point where I was chasing leaks and it wasn’t worth it anymore. I got tired of installing, then pulling them off, then reinstalling, then pulling them off. Is what it is. Very nice looking when they are installed though, that’s for sure.

Update on my good 6.9, pictures and plans for the bad 6.9

Back in September I posted about my truck throwing in the towel and after swapping in a very clean 87 6.9 and taking the truck for its first drive where everything is dialed, and then also tearing apart the old motor a little deeper to see what happened, I figured I’d share the results of...

Fuel filter light comes up what could be the cause?

Run some DeiselKleen in your fuel tank. It’s designed to help with the low sulfur diesel fuel were forced to run nowadays.
